How the calculator works it out
The total sale is the sold price plus the postage the buyer paid plus the sales tax. Every percentage fee is worked out on that total and rounded to the cent, the per-order fee is added once, and nothing else is added. Profit is what you received for the item and postage, minus eBay's fees, minus what you paid for the item, its postage and anything else; sales tax is left out, because it is never yours. The break-even price is the sold price at which profit is exactly zero.
Questions
How much does eBay take from a sale in Canada?
On eBay.ca, a seller without an eBay Store pays a final value fee of 13.6% up to C$7,500, then 2.35% in most categories, worked out on the whole sale including postage and sales tax, plus a per-order fee of C$0.30, or C$0.40 on orders over C$10.
Does eBay.ca charge its fee on postage?
Yes. The final value fee is a percentage of the total amount of the sale — the item price, the postage the buyer paid and sales tax — not of the item price alone. The Promoted Listings fee is worked out on the same total.
What does eBay charge to sell abroad from Canada?
eBay.ca adds an international fee to the total sale when the buyer is abroad: Buyer in the US 0.4%; Buyer elsewhere 1%.
Does this include Store or shop discounts?
No. The rates are the ones eBay publishes for sellers without a subscription and without Top Rated discounts; a subscription lowers the final value fee in many categories.
