LiveAnalytics and Insights, playing on its own: switch the trend line between profit, revenue and refunds, see what earns most and least, then open Insights — the findings Baiord raised by itself — and dismiss one you have dealt with.
  • Trends — a line chart with a four-way toggle: Profit, Revenue, Refunds, Returns. Buckets are chosen to fit the window: by day up to a month, by week up to six months, otherwise by month.
  • Most profitable and Least profitable — five products each. The second list is usually the more useful one.
  • Supplier comparison — profit by supplier as a bar chart, with each supplier's margin and profit listed.

Each series hangs off its own date: orders by order date, refunds by the date they were refunded, returns by the date they were opened. They are queried separately for that reason rather than forced onto one timeline.

A product's profit is attributed by its share of each order's revenue, since eBay charges fees per order rather than per line. Refund counts exclude cancelled orders, so a product is never labelled refund-prone for sales you never processed.

Insights

Insights is what Baiord noticed without being asked. It compares the last four weeks against the four before, and raises four kinds of finding:

FindingWhen it appears
Margin falling on {product} Margin dropped by 3 percentage points or more, with at least three sales in each half. It tells you roughly what price rise would restore a 15% margin.
{supplier} raised the cost of {product} Your average buying price for it rose by 8% or more, over at least three purchases in each half.
{product} is refunded often Refunded on more than 15% of its sales, over at least five sales. Worth checking the listing description and the supplier's quality.
{category} is your most profitable category Your best category by profit over the eight weeks. Worth expanding the range.

Each one can be dismissed. The whole set is rebuilt on every run, so advice that has stopped being true disappears by itself rather than nagging you about a problem you already fixed.

Insights needs dashboard access; Analytics needs the analytics permission. See team and roles.

Reading the dashboardThe two period panels, the profit breakdown, what the outstanding counts mean, and your eBay account health. Baiord connects to eBay through eBay's developer APIs with read-only permissions, approved on eBay's own sign-in page. It cannot list, end or reprice an item, message a buyer, issue a refund or move money, and it never sees your eBay password. You can withdraw its access at any time, from Baiord or from your eBay account.

Profit is what eBay reports — the sale, the postage your buyer paid, any discount you gave and every fee eBay charged — less the buying price you enter, with refunds, fee credits and supplier refunds on the order they belong to. Sales tax and VAT that eBay collects and remits are neither revenue nor cost. An order without a buying price is left out of profit until it has one.

Days and months start at midnight in your workspace's time zone — the zone eBay cuts your statements in, set from your marketplace. A refund counts in the month it arrived unless you choose the month of the original order.

Prices are in US dollars and are the whole price; no VAT is added. Each eBay account has its own workspace, so two sets of books never mix: Solo covers one account, Multi covers three.

Features are subject to change. Some features, such as Finance, are switched on per workspace.
